Ingredients Policy

We constantly strive to ensure that all products we stock are as safe and natural as possible.

A stroll down the supermarket aisles will show that the word ‘natural’ is often simply marketing jargon and does not mean that a product is non-toxic. Even products that say Paraben Free or SLS Free may be substituting these more notorious ingredients with other chemicals, which are just as harmful. Even the word ‘organic’ is used freely, and yet can often mean that a product full of the usual chemicals has one or two organic ingredients included. Cruelty Free bunny logos abound and yet, many of these brands are actually tested on animals. (Link to cruelty free blog post) We believe that the use of toxins in personal care and beauty brands is immoral and outdated, but unfortunately it is still extremely widespread. U.S. researchers report that one in eight of the 82,000 ingredients used in personal care products are industrial chemicals, including carcinogens, pesticides, reproductive toxins, and hormone disruptors. A study of toxins in beauty brands by the David Suzuki Foundation reported that roughly 80% of cosmetic products surveyed contained at least one of the ingredients on what they named the “dirty dozen” list.

We’ve got some ground rules for non-toxic beauty products…
