Black Chicken Remedies Barrier Booster is a natural deodorant for Sensitive Skin.
Magnesium Hydroxide – an antibacterial that calms as it lowers cortisol levels and
improves cellular processes. Effective at detoxifying the skin and treating sensitive
skin areas. Powerful at stopping those odour causing bacteria!
Candelilla wax – is rich in nutrients and easily absorbed creating an instant barrier
to prevent chemicals irritating the skin.
Borage seed oil – a type of fatty acid well researched for treating inflammatory
skin disorders and antioxidant properties. Ideal for skin that can’t produce sufficient
protective oils, and suffering from inflammation and irritation.
Diatomaceous Earth – is almost perfectly pH neutral, so it won’t irritate skin

I tried Axilla original and had a reaction, will I react to this one?
As part of the process of developing this new product, we gave Black Chicken Barrier Booster to customers who were sensitive to Axilla original to try every day for two weeks –100% of users reported no irritation and no odour. This new formula doesn’t contain Sodium Bicarbonate which can cause irritation in some people.
Instead, we’ve used Magnesium Hydroxide and Diatomaceous Earth to be gentle on the skin’s pH and neutralise odour. We’ve also incorporated other natural ingredients rich in lipids and fatty acids that actually strengthen your sensitive skin. That means it helps to improve your skin’s barrier to help protect it from things that may irritate it.
Does it have a scent?
Yes. This formula has hints of citrus freshness. Specifically, from the essential oils of Mandarin and Pink Grapefruit. The concentrations of these are low to deliver the scent without any irritation.
Is it as effective at neutralising odour as the original formula?
Yes, Axilla Barrier Booster Deodorant Paste contains the power of Magnesium Hydroxide – A powerful antibacterial that stops those odour causing bacteria! Just like the original formula, it allows your skin and sweat glands to function as normal without blockers or toxic chemicals to neutralise odour.
What do I do when my Axilla Deodorant Paste melts – can I still use it?
Because this is handmade, consistencies across batches may vary. Products may melt or harden due to weather conditions and appear grainy in texture. This is perfectly normal and won’t affect performance. We don’t use any chemical hardeners, preservatives or liquefiers in these products, so they can melt in extreme temperatures or go hard in cold climates. The good news is, all you do is remelt the product a bit by placing the tub in a sink of hot (not boiling) water just halfway up the side of the tub and then once it has softened or melted, give it a mix and place it into the fridge to reset quickly. The product will return to its original state.

The regular version is AMAZING at keeping you smell-free for a whole 24 hours but unfortunately it gave me a rash after a while because of the sodium bicarb so I bought the sensitive version instead. Having previously reacted to a different natural deodorant, I was excited to try BCR sensitive option. Initially my underarms were occasionally itchy, with my skin reacting a little. I know sometimes there is a “teething” period where your skin has to detox from synthetic deodorant, so I kept going (wasn’t a massively bad reaction) and after about two weeks my underarms had settled.
I like the feel and smell of this deodorant, applying it by finger is not a problem for me. I usually find I need to apply morning and night and am more hyper aware of smelling bad. But overall am very happy with how my underarms look and feel, it’s almost like moisturizing your armpits hah!

I love black chicken deodorant but had started to have a reaction to it every now and again, so thought I would try this. I like it but I don’t love it. The smell to me is a bit unpleasant almost a faint mold smell (it reminds me of mildewy curtains) and although I have had no irritation at all, I definitely haven’t found it effective at controlling odour at all. After a couple of hours it’s not great, if I’m doing physical activity it’s less time. I think I’m going to go back to the original and take the odd irritation and no smell over this situation. Keep in mind I’m probably considered a heavy sweater (only since changing to natural deodorant!) I do love the feel of it and it is really nice to apply but overall I won’t be buying again.

I had previously been using a clinical protection typed one but my eczema was getting bad so i decided to make the jump to natural, and the sensitive skin one seemed the way to go! Great natural product, easy to apply, you only need a very slight amount. Rubs in easily, smells great and is truly blocking any smell, even after a full night in a overheated hall. Very effective. However I would not wear it with certain garments, as it does not block the sweat, and this is great as regards respecting natural function of the body, but sweat patches do not look good though.

Love this deodorant! I read many reviews about Black Chicken irritating sensitive armpits so I was excited to try this. It smells gorgeous in the pot and rubs in like a moisturiser. I gave it the full test yesterday, worn out walking and then under a merino and overnight – no smell! It doesn’t smell like deodorant or sweat, just completely neutral. Absolutely in love with this product!
