Woohoo! Deodorant Paste Information
Anybody else remember busting out some dance moves to C+C Music Factory? “Come on let’s sweat (sweat sweat) baby…. Everybody Dance Now!”
They had right idea. Getting your “sweat on” has its benefits, and it isn’t something we should be stopping with aluminium filled antiperspirants.
Fun Sweaty Fact #1 – Your sweat doesn’t actually smell. What causes BO (body odour) is the bacteria that start munching on proteins in the sweat. They break down the proteins into acids and that’s what smells.
Why we should we sweat with pride
Sweating is a normal and healthy. These are just some of the good things that sweating does for your body:
- Cooling you down and preventing overheating
- May help to expel toxins such as BPA, phthalates and heavy metals
- Kills bacteria and viruses than can’t live in temperatures above 37C
- Keeps pores clear
- Reduces your chance of kidney stones
- May help to fight skin infections
So it is pretty cool stuff, and it makes you think “why you would want to stop it?” Especially if you could sweat without the fear of stinky-ness.
Fun Sweaty Fact #2 – Women have more sweat glands than men. But the men’s are more active and that is why they sweat more.
Deodorants vs Antiperspirants
Deodorants and Antiperspirants are not the same thing.
Antiperspirants use aluminium salts to either block, close or clog your pores to prevent you from sweating. In Australia they are classed and regulated as therapeutic goods because they alter your body’s normal function.
Deodorants don’t interfere with you pores or glands. They still let you sweat. Deodorants work by creating an environment on your skin that prevents bacteria from having a wild party stinking up the joint.
Fun Sweaty Fact #3 – Stress sweat smells worse than exercise sweat. This is because it comes from different glands where the sweat has a higher percentage of proteins and fats compared to exercise sweat. The bacteria go nuts for the extra protein and fats and gorge on it like its Christmas dinner.
The problem with aluminium salts
Aluminium chloride, aluminium zirconium, aluminium chlorohydrate and aluminium hydroxybromide are all commonly used in antiperspirants. Aluminium is not normally found in the body so a big red flag is raised when researchers find it in our tissue. It shows that our body absorbs aluminium.
Aluminium is a neurotoxin and it has links to increasing the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. It has also been found to disrupt your endocrine system by mimicking the hormone estrogen. Anything that can do this is a massive red flag in the breast cancer world.
It’s also the culprit for staining your clothes yellow!
So as you can see, it’s important to embrace the sweat and ditch antiperspirants.

Directions
With clean, dry hands use the tip of your index finger collect to a pea sized amount of deodorant and warm it in your fingertips. Rub it under your arm until it disappears (just like you would a moisturiser). P.S. If you’re used to using an antiperspirant, please remember that this isn’t one! This deodorant works by neutralising odour and keeps you dryer by absorbing moisture, but it DOESN’T block your pores with aluminium to stop you from sweating. It can take a couple of weeks for your body to adjust to this type of deodorant but it’s worth the wait!

What a lovely texture this deodorant has, soft, creamy and spreads nicely. It has a very subtle fragrance so I’d prefer a stronger scent next time. I brought the plastic free tin and it’s a great size and easy to get out plus it’s 100% recyclable 👌🏻

I’ve been using black chicken and recently changed to woohoo and I find it a lot better. Smells great, keeps everything fresher for longer and it doesn’t leave marks on my clothing. It’s also a great texture for application and the little spatula is an inspired idea. Awesome product!

This is my first natural paste deodorant and I am not yet won over… Not having using a natural paste deodorant before I have nothing to compare it with but I did find this paste a bit tricky to apply and would feel my armpits getting a bit clammy and sweaty a few hours after applying. I understand it doesn’t stop you from sweating and maybe I’m just not used to it yet, but after a few weeks of using I still am feeling self-conscious that my armpits are smelly!
My biggest struggle was warming the paste before applying. It is a lot easier straight after the shower when the air is still warm and moist, but on cold mornings I found the paste quite hard to reach the right consistency to apply it.

I got the sample size as I’m on the hunt for a natural deoderant that works for me. I used this one after a detox (detox-a-pit) and I have just found it doesn’t do much deoderizing. It has a subtle scent and doesn’t do much to offset body odour. I’ve tried using more which helps a bit but still not as much as I’d hoped. It has a nice texture and feels smooth to rub on which is great and I haven’t had any irritation either which I have had from other natural deoderants 🙂 nice tin packaging which is a bonus being plastic free!

I used to suffer from scarring due to my skin reacting to the aluminium in antiperspirant deodorants, and if I did not use them, body odor was an issue for me. I tried crystal deodorants and bicarbonate based recipes and nothing worked. My friend recommended this to me and I will never use another deodorant again (unless in emergency situations where I don’t have this with me. Great deodorant. I finished my first tub and didn’t feel the need to try anything else, I’m sticking with what works!.
The urban has a nice subtle fragrance. The paste rubs in well and leaves no marks. I use this when I go to the gym and it does it’s job. I’m not a major sweater so I couldn’t say how it goes for someone that is.

I dont like this as much as the woohoo wild which i tried first. Its nice but it doesnt work as well for me as the wild does. Its has a very mild smell. It has a nice smooth consistency but if you need a stronger deoderant id go for the wild.

Love this deodorent! I tried in a sample size first as I have sensitive skin and wanted to be sure. This was my first paste type deodorent and I did have to get used to applying with my finger which can be a little messier but not a biggy. However more importantly there was NO irritation whatsoever, I love the scent and no staining of clothes (I do make sure it’s well rubbed in though). Woohoo 🙂

I was very sceptical about trying a deodorant paste, but I have found this awesome from the get go. I first got it in a sample size. I love the smell, to me it has a nice lavendery smell, it’s quite refreshing not a soapy smell, and it’s not overpowering either.
What really sealed the deal for me was during my trial with the sample pottle I had to go push sheep up through the sheep yards on a warm central Otago day for a few hours. I did not get sweaty and smelly armpits at all (I usually get quite sweaty doing this). I have since purchased the full size pottle. I also work in a busy little cafe here in central Otago (I am mentioning that as we have a very hot dry climate) and I don’t really get sweaty smelly armpits from running around after people all day long or being in a small stuffy kitchen with this woohoo paste. I wear black tops as part of my work uniform and I don’t get white stains either.
I have just purchased my second pottle. I would recommend this to everyone.

I am not so fussed on these. I tried the mini pots of both scents and I really didn’t feel like it was getting the job done. This was one that needed reapplying and I noticed the scent didn’t last all day, unlike a couple of other natural deodorants I’ve tried. The texture is pretty good though.

An easy paste to use, a very pleasant smell, I found that I would have to apply about twice a day, however, it always lasted longer in morning after shower on clean skin, than it did after re-applying. The best I’ve found so far, only 4 stars due to having to reapply during the day and feeling wet under armpits after about 4 hours. Will try the other one next time. You’re onto a good thing!
