If you are thinking of changing to a natural solid shampoo bar, be aware that your hair will need to go through a transition back to its natural state which can cause a few bad hair days. (It’s like coming off an addictive drug… those first few weeks aren’t too pretty- but once clean you’ll never want to go back!). Commercial shampoos are laden with silicones and other chemicals that coat every hair on your head and these take a while to wash/wear away.
Personally, I find that I don’t need to use conditioner now that I have ditched the bottled shampoo. I like to do a vinegar rinse every couple of weeks, which leaves my hair lovely and soft and shiny. I use 2 Tbsp vinegar (white wine or apple cider) in 1L warm water and rinse through after shampooing.
