Oh Natural Women – Huia’s Top 5 Oh Natural Products

We asked our marketing consultant which her favourite Oh Natural products are. Here’s what she said.

I love dressing up and doing a smoky eye with loads of lashes and a natural lippy – but my daily routine is very natural and my absolute staples are mascara and lip gloss. I love clean teeth and smelling fresh and good. So, my top favourites list will come as no surprise:

1. Inika mascara or 100% Pure Black Tea mascara

I love the Inika mascara for more thick-lash drama, and the Black Tea for a less thick effect which stays on better if I am horse riding. I love knowing there is only natural goodness around my eyes, as all mascaras tend to drop tiny particles.

2. Epic lip balms

These are so nourishing and rich and have insanely delicious scents like peach, cherry and banana… seriously, so scrummy.

3. Tankis Mint Chick natural deodorant (or Tankis ‘Skux As’ for men)

This is fresh and minty and you will be too. Fabulous. Yesterday my son picked up the jar and inhaled deeply sighing ‘Oh I love this one’! It’s kinda like toothpaste for your armpits 😀

4. Zoo charcoal tooth whitener

I love getting my teeth cleaned by the dental hygienist and honestly, this charcoal tooth powder does the most incredible job of polishing teeth to the same sparkly slippery shiny clean! It’s soooo cleansing for great oral hygiene and it definitely whitened my teeth – I also love that it is REALLY great for getting kids’ teeth sparklingly plaque free, naturally.

5. Oh Natural charcoal and spearmint soap

YUM. This baby is going to be on repeat order – so refreshing, smells incredible, and has charcoal for that lovely mini-buff feeling on my skin. Yes please.

Oh Natural products that surprised me (and won me over!)

I’m cheating a little; but I feel I need to share these epic discoveries! Who knew that a men’s facial scrub could deliver skin like silk, or that a mooncup could change your life? I’m a bit of an evangelist about these next five products that I didn’t know I needed:

1. Noosa Basics dental floss with activated charcoal

Say what!? Who gets excited about floss? Me, of course – love the clean teeth, remember? So I ordered this wee cardboard box feeling a little sceptical that it would deliver the goods, and pulling out a soft strand of natural string did NOT make me feel more confident. But this stuff works, really, really well. And it’s natural, charcoal infused, and beautifully plastic free. Eco goodness and oral hygiene in one teeny box!

2. Dark Heart Beard Co arabica facial scrub (for men)

I bought this scrumptious little coffee and honey scrub, for my ‘honey’, but had to test it out…  lo and behold, it and works amazingly, leaves my face baby -bottom soft! Move over boyfriend, just gonna borrow your scrub.

3. Bonk Lube

TBH I was so revolted the last time I bought a supermarket brand lubricant (you know the one). It was sticky and icky and the synthetic faux-patchouli fragrance was SO unromantic! Bonk Lube, my hero. With just a light natural scent, this lube is certified organic, made in NZ and works a dream.

4. Tailor cleansing oil

When I’m taking off makeup late at night I really don’t want to have to scrub away at my poor tired face to get it clean. This cleansing oil from Tailor is more of the ‘badda-boom badda-bang’ variety. Apply, swipe, gone! It’s magic stuff, and I’m almost tempted to yell ‘Hey Presto’ as my panda eyes vanish instantly.

5. Juju Cup

Mooncups and I took a few tries to become bosom buddies, and I still reach for Tsuno a few days a month – but I LOVE the convenience of a mooncup – especially on days I am out all day or want to go horse riding. No changing, no leaks, no bleaches and toxins, sweet. I love knowing I am reducing my environmental impact too.

I love shopping cruelty free, toxin free natural beauty brands online

I discovered Oh Natural about five years ago. My fabulous cousin runs social enterprise The Fabric Social (working with women in conflict torn areas to create ethical clothing in styles by hot Melbourne designers). She told me about Tsuno bamboo pads and how they donate 50% of their profits. Google took me to Oh Natural, and I found myself browsing an online store where I wanted pretty much ALL OF THE THINGS.

I began by buying a few pieces of natural makeup and skincare, and of course the Tsuno pads. I haven’t used the ‘paraben and synthetic crap’ type of skincare for 20 years, and suddenly buying natural beauty products I liked was really, really easy! Then when my parcel arrived with a wee thank you note and some choccies, I graduated instantly from a one-time shopper to a brand advocate.

I told my mum, I told my friends, I told random strangers in the supermarket aisle! I can be annoying like that. When I find a good thing, I want everyone to know. I guess that’s why I am in Marketing – and now that I work with Oh Natural, I have a legitimate excuse to talk about the business!

Now I don’t buy any beauty or personal hygiene products in normal shops, and I love knowing that everything is cruelty free and lots of the brands are waste free or donate to charities; so I can help make the world a better place, while enjoying beautiful things. I hope you enjoy my list, and find some new things to try!
